Plan management

Plan management is one way to manage NDIS funding. A plan manager can pay invoices, track spending and help a participant understand how their budget is being used. It can offer flexibility while reducing the administration a participant manages alone.

What this support may include

Paying provider invoices; tracking budget use; providing statements; helping explain claim processes; supporting communication between participant and provider.

Finding the right fit

Start with the person’s goals, location, funding and practical preferences. Explain the support needed, the days and times that matter, and any accessibility, language or communication requirements. Ask more than one provider when possible so you can compare capacity, approach and costs.

Questions to ask a provider

Can they work with your plan type? How often will you receive statements? What is the invoice process? How quickly are providers paid? How do they handle incorrect invoices?

Funding and next steps

Funding arrangements differ. If you use NDIS funding, confirm whether the provider can work with your plan-managed, self-managed or agency-managed arrangement. If you are unsure, include what you know in your request and ask the provider to explain their options clearly.
